James G. Carrick & Co. was established in 1851. In the late 19th century, James Carrick took over an existing tinsmith business, James McHaffie.
Initially based at Glasgow Metallic Works, Calderwood Street, we specialised in ventilation systems, tinsmithing, and producing items like street lamps, packing cases, and ventilators.
Through Carricks long and varied history the business has evolved into the contemporary industrial packaging manufacturing business it is today. Now modern technology is employed across our Blow Moulding, Injection Moulding and Steel Drum manufacturing functions. Despite this, the history and heritage of Carricks can still be felt on the shop floor where some more traditional elements of manufacturing still endure.
Over the years, the company has expanded its product range to include bespoke packaging solutions such as steel kegs, UN Tighthead Drums, IATA Cans, plastic jerrycans and bottles, and a range of plastic caps.
With our uniquely diverse manufacturing capabilities Carrick Packaging has enhanced its reputation for quality and innovation across a wide range of customer sectors. Today, the company is one of the UK’s most respected and enduring packaging manufacturers, committed to providing top-quality packaging solutions while staying true to its founding principles.
